Zoom: A Connective Tissue Close Up
I live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder. The tissues in my body are weak and stretched out. This causes joint dislocations and internal organs to malfunction. To fight against the destruction, I channeled my energy into creating this beautiful and functional connective tissue. “Zoom” captures the depth and detail of our fascial layers, as you would see under a microscope.
Specifically, I tried to show the dynamic nature of our connective tissue. I want to emphasize how the fascia is a live network. This network reacts to our daily movements and responds to these patterns by altering its rate and direction of growth. I can’t change my genes, but I can do my best to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I want to remind the world how to find hope by focusing our energy on what we can do here and now.
